Unorganized Home

September 12th, 2013 at 03:37 pm

I NEED to figure out a schedule or something! Every night I put my son to sleep and think, "Okay, once he's asleep I'll get up and do dishes, fold laundry, etc." and every night I end up falling asleep with him and wake up in the middle of the night realizing I missed my chance to clean. The house is such a MESS! I have got to get something done! I might save some money by eating out less if the kitchen/dishes were clean!

It's also a very good thing that my online college classes don't have due dates this semester because I haven't had much time to do homework. Last night was the first night I ALMOST got an assignment done!

Tonight I AM going to get some cleaning done at home. Yikes!

i feel you. My kids are 3 and 5 and I feel like this every day. Sometimes, you just have to let it go. Rest is more important. Go into survival mode!

I've also tried to shift more into the earlier hours. My goals are pretty low. We do one to two loads of dishes in the dishwasher every day, and I try to completely finish one load of laundry a day -- by that I mean, wash, dry, fold and put away. It's when it piles up that it gets overwhelming!

I don't have (little) kids, but I have grandkids and a heavy work/commuting schedule. Getting housework done is a real challenge for me, too. I find the "10-minute tidy" very helpful. Set the alarm for 10 minutes. Just do ANYTHING during that time -- I usually start by putting stuff away. If you want to quit after 10 minutes, quit! But I usually feel like doing a little more. It helps.

That's normal to feel that way with a newborn.
Get paper plates. After dinner turn on the radio and load the dishwasher.
Haul all the clothes to the washroom, sort then do your laundry inbetween watching tv and have hangers there so you can hang them up right when they get our of the dryer. Fold a load while watching your shows. Take a nice bubble bath make time for yourself. You'll feel better! When your fiance's daughter comes for weekend visits she do things like get the lint out of the dryer to trash, round up bathroom trash cans. Then teach her to play tic tac toe, uno or candyland as a reward. You can pull up a chair and have her help you cook. Kids love being involved and take lots of pictures. Prints are cheap and you can make her a little photo albumn and give her some stickers to put around the edges she'd love that.

Thanks everyone! Good to hear that I'm not the only one! ThriftoRama - your goals are better than mine! I might have to try that!

I like the 10 minute idea! When I get a chance to clean I turn on an hour of Dave Ramsey, which is more like 40 minutes, but it really keeps me going!
