Ideas for Christmas for fiance

November 15th, 2013 at 01:34 am

We set our Christmas budget tonight and for each other we are spending $50. We never get eachother gifts, we always keep it really practical. My goal this year is to do several things for him under $50. Any ideas? ! I need some suggestions, please and thank you !

Fifty dollars is often our budget for spouse gifts. My husband almost always wants a movie or cd. In the past he has received Smartwool socks/slippers. A food splurge item, such as beef jerky is always well received. If his car is important, cleaning supplies or air fresheners are good.

    Enjoy the gift giving!

If he's an outdoorsman or a sports guy, name brand moisture-wicking athletic wear is popular. (even underwear)

On the topic of Christmas gifts, I'd be curious to hear what neat things parents put in stockings.

If he's to have surgery after the New Year, perhaps some comfort items like quality heat pad, cold pack with knit cover, down coverlet, premium or craft beer samples with beer chips and peanuts. If he's a tekkie there are lots more aps and easy to use emergency power pack for phone or iPad/laptop.

Men are hard to shop for at any price! It's futile to try to WOW the husband, and mostly what they really want is itty bitty electronic stuff now that costs $100 and up. I resist that path!! So-What I do?

Pay attention during the year and secretly take notes on things he does that are unusual. My guy is a tool man, a vegetable gardener, an amatuer weatherperson, rides his bike for errands, and likes to cook. He does not have time to read nor cares for clothes.

This year I've bought him: $20 vintage weather instrument (from the thrift store), $10 thin slicing vegetable tool (the simple one, not the silly one with extra blades), $5 toe clips for his bike, and new pillows for bedtime.

In the past I've bought him: solar iPhone recharger, tickets to a travel show

If you don't have enough observations yet since you are in a young relationship: go to Sears tool floor (lots of ideas); go to the local gardening store (lots of ideas); or to Best Buy (this is guy heaven).

    Good luck!
